What does ISSDA do

Stainless India

Stainless India published every quarter, where the applications and development of stainless steel in India are compiled; any body interested in the applications of stainless steels can write to ISSDA for a free copy of the magazine.

Training & Skill Development

ISSDA conducts seminars and training programmes to enhance knowledge and develop skill in stainless steel based applications. The Fabricator’s training programme targets the welders even in small towns to improve their skills on stainless steel fabrication and educate them on various aspects of stainless steel usage. All these programmes are offered free of cost to nurture skill at the grass root level and prepare the candidates for higher skill jobs and also for self-employment.

Free Technical Services

ISSDA has access to vast technical resources in the selection of proper grade of stainless steel for various service environments, as well as matters related to fabrication. This service is provided free of charge through the Nickel Institute (NI). Similarly through NI, up-to-date information on material selection of stainless steel for various industrial service environments and fabrication is available in the form of technical publications. Technical queries and matters relating to sourcing of stainless steel products & services are answered free of charge.

Other Publications

ISSDA publishes, every few years, a STAINLESS STEEL PRODUCT DIRECTORY & BUYERS’ GUIDE. The first was in 1996 and followed by 2000, 2005 and 2013.

Indian Stainless Steel Market Research 2013-14 --- this contains data on the supply and the end-use consumption of stainless steel in India and projections up to 2022-23 (refer in PUBLICATIONS)

ISSDA also publishes handbooks for use by welders and other users on various aspects of stainless steel, which helps to serve as important reference and recall documents.

Programmes

ISSDA organizes workshops for specific end-use applications of stainless steel targeted at designers, material specifiers, engineers, architects, maintenance personnel and international conferences for increasing the awareness of applications for stainless steel.

Affiliations

ISSDA has close relations with NI, stainless steel development associations (SSDAs) in other countries, the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), the International Chromium Development Association (ICDA) and the International Molybdenum Association (IMOA). This helps ISSDA to learn from their experience to introduce stainless steel for new applications. ISSDA is associated with the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), a part of World steel Association. ISSF is the apex body for coordinating world-wide market development activities and other interests of Stainless Steel industry and SSDA's around the world.
