Commercial production of Auto LPG tanks

The stainless steel automotive LPG cylinders have now finally arrived. M/s Noveau Technologies Pvt Ltd (NTL) recently released, after a marathon 'type testing' programme, its new series of stainless steel cylinders for storing auto LPG for cars. Commercial production is now underway at the company's new factory in Baroda.

The unique cylinder is manufactured in Type 304L austenitic stainless steel with enhanced mechanical properties. This results in a tank, which has a combination of high strength, internal cleanliness, corrosion resistance and, as a bonus, is 'lightweight'. The cylinders are designed to meet the stringent requirements of IS:14899 and overseas standards AS:3509 and RU:67.

The target markets for the cylinders are both OEM and retro-fit converters. Discussions and approval trials are currently being finalized with the major players in the automotive LPG field. NTL hopes to be in full production within the next few weeks. The current sizes of stainless steel cylinders available from NTL are the 45 litre and 60 litre tanks in 318 mm diameter. The new sizes, 70 litre and 80 litre (318 mm dia) will be added to the range shortly.

Additionally, NTL has developed its new range of 200 mm dia cylinders for use in the two and three wheeler segment, and a range of larger tanks specifically designed for on-board marine engines. These also will be on the market within the next few weeks.
